
(Ficus elastica) Indian rubber tree in english. It is a spreading tree up to about 8 meters high, with numerous roots from the trunk and branches. leaves are oblogate and smooth, leathery and shiny, stipules are usually red, often as long as the leaves.
Uses: Decoction of chopped bark used to wash skin eruptions and dermatitis; Decoction of aerial rootlets used for wounds, cuts and sores; Bark is used for astringent; Decoction of latex for parasitic worms; It is not advised as decorative bonzai inside the house as it is believed to invite ghosts.
